Child Protection Program
At the 7 day visit
The patient will be examined by a physician specializing in child maltreatment. Acute medical needs will be addressed and referrals for further intervention may be provided.
Foster parents will meet with a mental health clinician to discuss any psycho-social issues which may require immediate intervention.
Foster parents will receive two behavioral checklists, one to be completed by the patient's teacher (if applicable) and one to be completed by the foster parent. Children ages 11-18 will be given a youth self report to complete. Postage-paid envelopes will be provided so that completed checklists may be returned for scoring prior to the 30-day visit.
A comprehensive dental examination will be provided by the dental clinic at Boston Children's Hospital. Any follow up dental care will be coordinated between the dental clinic and the foster parent.
