Center for Perinatal Urology
The Center for Perinatal Urology at Children's Hospital Boston offers counseling of expecting parents and management of children with congenital genitourinary problems diagnosed during pregnancy.

Nationally and internationally, the center is considered the leader in the care, management and research of this field.

Our team has extensive knowledge and experience in managing genitourinary anomalies both before and after birth. In addition, we are actively doing research in this field, to provide the most up-to-date care for these problems.

What we treat
The Center for Perinatal Urology treats birth defects commonly related to the genitourinary tract:
  1. Hydronephrosis: the most common condition accounting for 50 to 70 percent of our cases
  2. Obstruction of the urinary tract, including:
  3. Posterior urethral valves
    Ureteral obstruction
    Ureteropelvic junction obstruction
  4. Vesicoureteral Reflux
  5. Other congenital anomolies:
    • Multicystic dysplastic kidney and polycystic disease
    • Renal hypoplasia and aplasia
    • Renal tumor (Wilm's and congenital mesoblastic nephroma)
    • Neuroblastoma
    • Teratoma
    • Bladder exstrophy
    • Cloacal exstrophy and imperforated anus
    • Genital anomalies
    • Hydroceles and other testicular anomalies
    • Penile anomalies such as hypospadias and chordee
    • Ambiguous genitalia
