How long will my appointment take?
Appointments can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

If my child needs surgery, can I schedule it after the appointment?
Yes, if surgery is necessary one of our Surgical Coordinators will visit with you at the end of your child's appointment to go over your options.

Do I need a referral?
Yes, if your insurance requires a referral to visit a specialist.

Do I need to obtain authorization for the surgery?
We will obtain the authorization, although we may need additional information from you to do so.

Will my child need surgery?
Surgery is only one of several options. Your child may receive surgery, medication or observation.

If my child needs surgery, does he or she need to go to Pre-op?
Yes. Find out more.

What lab tests are done at the office? What lab tests are needed?
Urinalysis and a urine culture may be needed. Your child's nurse will decide at the visit.

Why can't I schedule an appointment at the first call?
To make your child's time at his or her hospital appointment more efficient, and to eliminate the possibility of needless testing, our physicians need to evaluate your child's medical history first, and then possibly order testing.

Do I need to bring my child to the appointment?
Yes.

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

  • Any films
  • Disks
  • Completed new patient forms
  • A referral
  • Co-payment
  • Your child's pediatrician or primary care physician contact information
How do I pay for my child's visit?
We accept cash, check and credit cards, as well as most insurance and Medicaid.

Will my PCP be notified about my child's visit?
Yes, after every visit we send a clinic letter to your child's PCP, detailing the appointment and recommendations for treatment and follow-up.

Do you accept out of state insurance?
Yes, although your insurance may not include us in their coverage.

What are your office hours?
The office is open from 8:30 am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

Who do I contact in an emergency?
Call 617-355-7796 and follow the voice prompts to our 24-hour call line.

Do you perform newborn circumcisions?
No, all circumcisions are performed under anesthesia and are done after 6 months of age.

Are there any special items to bring to my child's appointment, such as snacks?
You can bring whatever you would like to your outpatient visit that doesn't interfere with other patients.

Can my child eat before the appointment?
Yes, unless specifically told otherwise.

How quickly will I get an appointment?
Your appointment is based on several factors including urgency, choice of physician, and location. Your child will be seen within two weeks by one of the pediatric urologists.
