CHNP serves children, adolescents and their families through our partnerships with 13 Boston-area urban schools. In our school partnerships, we work with school staff, students and families to identify and support students' strengths in order to help them achieve to the best of their abilities. Our school partners are four Elementary Schools, five K-8 schools, and four High Schools. We are different in the ways we approach the work. In our model, the CHNP team becomes an integral part of the school environment, enabling children to view them as part of their daily lives and communities, not as people from the outside. A main mission of CHNP is focus on relationship building with students, families, school staff and the larger community. We provide schools with a range of options for on-site mental health services from direct treatment to classroom wide interventions. Prevention work is central to our work as these services and programs are often what urban schools most need. Our mission is also to increase school capacity specially regarding mental health issues by helping schools address issues in a proactive manner. Our research team with the clinicians conduct a yearly needs assessment to tailor the partnership to best meet the direct needs of the school.
