Goal 2: To promote children’s social-emotional development through a broad spectrum of mental health services. 
 

Social Competence 

Students who participate in CHNP targeted groups and social-emotional learning programs demonstrate growth in their social-emotional skills scores, as measured by the Social Competence Scale.  The scale measures prosocial behaviors, self-regulation skills and academic skills.

Coping Strategies

Students also show increased problem-focused and support-seeking (i.e., adaptive) coping strategies, as measured by the Coping Strategies Checklist, before and after targeted-group early intervention. The checklist measures students’ abilities to solve problems and seek support from others in stressful situations.

Adaptive Functioning

The percentage of students who demonstrate clinically significant symptoms, as measured by the Children’s Global Assessment Scale, decreased by 46% from beginning to end of therapy. Overall, 77% of students demonstrated improvement in their adaptive functioning.
