Image Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Care's (DF/CHCC) Pediatric Brain Tumor Program is one of the leading research centers for the study of pediatric central nervous system tumors. The researchers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hospital Boston, both Harvard Medical School affiliates, receive more than $15 million a year in NIH support research grants. This is unparalleled in the United States.

Current research activities include:

  • studies of fundamental processes within normal and abnormal cells
  • novel treatment options and drug discoveries
  • translational programs to move new therapies into the clinic rapidly
  • concerted efforts to find ways to decrease the impact of the disease and its therapy on patients and families.
Dana-Farber and Children's are founding members of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium, a collaborative research group formed to speed the development of and improve the efficacy of childhood brain tumor therapies. Through this relationship, we offer access to novel Phase I and II clinical evaluations of new drugs and therapies, delivery strategies and radiation treatment approaches.

In addition, Dana-Farber and Children's investigators participate in all Children's Oncology Group's clinical trials investigating new treatments and approaches for childhood brain tumors.

It is important to understand that clinical trials open and close at a rapid rate. If you are interested in learning about the clinical trials available through DF/CHCC, please visit our online listing or contact our Pediatric Brain Tumor New Patient Coordinator at 617-632-2680 or through our toll free number, 1-888-PEDI-ONC (1-888-733-4662).
