Flower Frequently Asked Questions
Appointments / Referrals
  • How do I reschedule an appointment?
    Call your providers office:
    Dr. Peter McL. Black: 617-355-7795
    Dr. Liliana Goumnerova: 617-355-6364
    Dr. Joseph Madsen: 617-355-6005
    Dr. Mark Proctor: 617-355-2403
    Dr. Michael Scott: 617-355-6011
    Dr. Edward Smith: 617-355-8414
  • Will I still be seen if I do not have a referral/authorization?
If you do not have a referral from your referring physician, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment or have the option to sign a waiver and pay a $250.00 waiver fee. If you get a referral to us by noon on the next business day we are able to return the waiver fee. Call 617-355-6015 to provide the referral information. It is recommended that you pay the waiver fee with a check or charge; it makes it easier to stop payment. If you get a referral after a 24-hour period, you will have to wait until the insurance company pays the claim. This may take as long as 60-90 days. Your waiver fee will then be automatically sent back to you. This process is fully automated and there is no way to speed up the process. If, after 90 days, you have not received a refund, call our billing company at 1-800-769-4278.
Tests / Prescriptions
  • Can I receive copies of my X-rays, MRIs or CT scans?
You may receive copies of your films. However, you must go through the Children's Hospital film library. They may require a fee depending on the number of copies you need. You may contact the film library to order your requests at 617-355-6283.
Billing
  • I received a bill for my child's neurosurgery appointment. Who should I call with questions?
Questions regarding a bill from the Boston Pediatric Neurosurgery Foundation should be addressed to our Lighthouse MD billing representative at 617-355-6015. Questions about other hospital services that are billed from "Children's Hospital Boston" should be directed to 617-355-3397.
Parking
  • Where can I get my parking ticket validated and how much will it be?
Patients and their parents or guardians are eligible to have parking tickets validated at the reception and information desk in the main lobby, at outpatient registration in the pavilion lobby, or at Emergency Services. With validation, the cost is a maximum of $8 for 24 hours or one exit, whichever comes first.

  • Do you offer valet parking and how much does it cost?
Valet parking is available, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. for an additional $3 above the parking fee. Visitors may drop their cars at the hospital's main entrance to be parked. When leaving, visitors and patient families present their valet tickets at the valet station in the vestibule of the main lobby, and cars are brought up to the main entrance driveway while they wait. After 8:30pm and on weekends, car keys may be picked up at the cashier booth at the patient and family garage, located across from the hospital`s main entrance on the corner of Blackfan Street and Longwood Avenue. For more information about valet parking, call 617-355-6000, ext. 4168 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Information about valet parking may also be obtained by calling Children's Parking and Transportation Office directly at 617-355-6251 between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
