Neurosurgery Staff
In the hospital of today, surgeons do not work alone. They form the core of a team of dedicated professionals each working in a related specialty. From imaging technicians to operating room nurses, physical therapists and social workers, Children's Hospital Boston attracts highly skilled professionals from a region rich in health care talent.

The most promising young neurosurgeons compete for the opportunity to complete fellowships in the department because they have the chance to learn from renowned and innovative colleagues, but also because they know they can count on outstanding support and care for their patients from the entire hospital community.

Awards and Recognitions
Image Joseph Madsen, MD, associate in Neurosurgery, was one of three Children's Hospital Boston clinicians selected as Healthcare Champions by the Boston Business Journal in their annual Champions in Healthcare edition. Dr. Madsen was recognized in the Innovator category, for pioneering many ideas and devices to be used in the care of neurologic diseases in children, including a pillow to reduce plagiocephaly, a device to improve the safety of epilepsy surgery through better brain mapping and better shunts for patients with hydrocephalus. This edition will be on stands August 10.
