What Is SCOOP?
S.C.O.O.P. stands for the Student Career Opportunity Outreach Program.

S.C.O.O.P. was designed by Children's Hospital nurses to introduce children, youth, and young adults to nursing career opportunities. S.C.O.O.P. is one of our nursing initiatives to address the nursing shortage crisis. The program goals are to communicate, educate, and inspire our youth to consider nursing as a career.

What Does SCOOP Offer?
School Visits
Children's Hospital S.C.O.O.P. nurses visit schools in the greater Boston area. Our pediatric nurses educate students about:
  • Why nursing as a profession may be of interest to them
  • The training and education necessary to be a nurse
  • What's special about pediatric nursing
S.C.O.O.P. nurses speak to any size audience--from individual classrooms to auditorium assemblies! Flexibility is one of our nursing qualities!
Hospital Field Trips/Panel
Our S.C.O.O.P. nurses host school field trips to the hospital. S.C.O.O.P. field trips include:
  • A hospital tour
  • A panel discussion with a variety of specialty nurses
  • Free Lunch!
Field Trips are offered seven times per academic year for a limited number of students.
