About the Award
Daisy The DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses recognizes the incredible work that nurses do every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation, a foundation for the elimination of Diseases Attacking the Immune System in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Mr. Barnes' parents established the foundation in Patrick's memory, because they had experienced first hand the skills as well as the caring and compassion of many nurses.

The award is given monthly to an outstanding nurse in over 24 hospitals across America. Children's Hospital, Boston is proud to be among the recognized hospitals honoring our nurses.

Jamie Moore RN receives her award.
The January recipient of the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses is Jamie Moore, RN. Jamie is a nurse on 10 South and was nominated by a family who felt privileged to be at Children's Hospital, Boston and to have Jamie as "their" nurse. From the nomination excerpt below it is clear to see why they consider Jamie a natural at being a nurse.

"We are fortunate to have had Jamie as 'our' nurse again and again for several shifts during our sons hospitalizations. I say 'our nurse' because Jamie has taken excellent care of our son and of us (mom, dad, grandparents and siblings). She always takes the time to talk and explain things. She is sweet and fun with our son and she is always hopeful and supportive. She has our appreciation and admiration forever."

Nominate a Nurse!
We encourage all patients, families, and staff to nominate a nurse who exhibits extraordinary caring and compassion.

Each month a nominee is selected by the Children's Hospital, Boston Staff Nurse Council, and the winner receives a certificate, plant, sculpture and pin. Additionally, the recipient's department will receive cinnamon buns for all staff.
