Children's Hospital Boston, Department of Medicine Patient Services, is committed to increasing education in pediatric issues to community providers who care for them.  These programs provide a comprehensive update of current trends and nursing/medical mangagement of the pediatric population by Children's Hospital specialists. 

These programs are for:

  • School Nurses

  • Educators

  • Community Healthcare Providers

  • Families

  • Students

Wellness for School Nurses and                                                                                                                               Healthcare Providers 2011-2012

The Community Education Initiative is offering a Wellness Program for School Nurses and Providers.  This is an opportunity for renewal and to refresh your energies as a school nurse…for yourself and your students, colleagues and family!!!!.   We will provide an opportunity for you to learn new ways of incorporating balance in your life and the lives of others.  Refresh your energy, renew your spirit, gain a new awareness and leave with a sense of relaxation. Come with an open heart and the intention to learn something new!!

TECHNOLOGY INTENSIVE

Round table format with lecture & intensive hands on experiences

Experiential Learning with Insulin Pumps: participants will have an opportunity to self-insert and wear a pump while learning the basics of insulin pump therapy.

Learn about caring for the child with a tracheostomy in the school setting: participants will review tracheostomy insertion in an emergency situation, oxygen and humidification, suctioning and overview of equipment.

Review types of enteral tubes, feeding pumps, reinsertion of gtubes and skin concerns.
