Esophagitis Registry
Principal Investigator: Samuel Nurko, MD, MPH
Department: Gastroenterology
Protocol Status: Open for Recruitment
Trial Description: Esophagitis, or inflammation of the esophagus or food pipe, can result in swallowing problems, nausea, heartburn, chest or abdominal pain, poor weight gain or weight loss. There is very little information about which patients develop esophagitis and what is the natural history of esophagitis. The objective of this study is to create a registry of patients undergoing endoscopy to identify what patients are at risk for esophagitis and which patients will go on to develop complications of esophagitis.
Recruitment Info: Patients coming to Boston Children's Hospital for endoscopic evaluation of esophagitis symptoms are eligible for this study, as are patients with confirmed esophagitis who have received a scope with biopsies within the last six months. Participants complete two baseline questionnaires, and are then contacted every six months to complete follow-up questionnaires. There is no compensation for participation in this study.
