Patients and employees gathered in the Patient Entertainment Center
on February 25th to honor six of Children’s most popular therapists
the pet therapy dogs. Although Stella, Amos, Brandy, CJ, Rupert,
and Smooch were not invited to the party due to allergy precautions,
their handlers were present to answer questions and provide fun
facts about each of the dogs. The Center for Families sponsored
the party, which included a large cake in the shape of a dog bone
and a media presentation, to celebrate the one-year anniversary
of the PawPrints Program. Since the program began in January 2003,
therapy dogs have visited over 500 patients throughout the hospital.
