Employee of the month

Congratulations to Gail Hockman, patient services administrator in Surgical Programs, who's been chosen as Children's Hospital Boston's employee of the month for November. According to colleagues, she has never met a new initiative she didn't like. She takes on any and every new project with her never-ending supply of grids, charts, spreadsheets and data compilations, all to help Surgical Programs grow. Her sky-high productivity, organization and fiscal analysis has helped establish the need of more than 150 new positions in her department, all of which have been added. Not everyone can master Hockman's blend of expertise, talent, professionalism, enthusiasm, never-failing positive attitude and her ability to mentor her underlings. Coworkers describe her approach as "always collaborative" and say that "Gail's team spirit radiates." They also point out that Hockman takes much more pleasure facilitating others' success than standing in the spotlight herself. But she can't share the credit this time: November's Employee of the Month award is all hers.
