Benefits get enhanced in 2008

Human Resources (HR) has just announced many new features and enhancements to the 2008 employee benefits program. A new preferred provider medical plan is one of the new options, and there's a new vision plan, opportunities for increased life insurance and changes to disability insurance. Soon to be announced are details on a group automobile insurance plan, which offers discounted rates payable through regular payroll deductions, and a retiree medical savings plan.

All of the changes are the result of a recent study that compared our benefits program to those offered by other local teaching hospitals. HR's goal is to offer comprehensive and competitive benefits, plus the flexibility in plans and coverage levels that employees need in order to meet their diverse, often changing needs. The 2008 plan improvements help meet that goal.

Benefits are an important part of everyone's compensation, and fall is the time to make decisions about them. The process is as easy as 1, 2, 3. First, learn all you can about our benefits and what's new for 2008. Second, choose your plans. Third, enroll online (at any computer in the hospital). As part of the process, there will be information sessions in October and November and at the annual benefits fairs.

Open enrollment started October 26 and ends November 12. Enrollment materials should have arrived at your home near the end of October. Anyone who has questions can contact the HR Employee Service Center at ext.
5-7780, by email at hresc@childrens.harvard.edu or through interoffice mail to 1 Autumn Street.
