Congratulations to Diane Odom, practice liaison in Children’s Hospital Boston’s Ambulatory Support Services Department, who’s been selected as October’s Employee of the Month.
As an intermediary to referring physicians throughout Children’s Pediatric Physicians’ Organization at Children’s, Odom saves doctors heaps of time by quickly negotiating appointments for their patients in various departments. Courteous and efficient, she’s somehow always able to help get their patients seen, and soon–something the doctors and families very much appreciate.
Odom’s colleagues can’t say enough good things about her, especially those who have benefited from her mentorship. "She really knows how to explain things and listens," says one. "As a team leader, she has never shot down an idea and never made anyone feel as though they are any less important than anyone else. She pulls us together, teaches us, learns from us and helps us with whatever we need."
One grateful employee who worked with Odom in Ambulatory Scheduling when she first started won’t soon forget Odom’s guidance. "She showed me the ropes, and never made me feel like I didn’t know what I was doing (even when I didn’t)," she says. "The respect she shows her team as well as the providers and parents is unparalleled." Odom often gives employees booster shots of enthusiasm when they come to her frustrated or overwhelmed. She takes the time to talk through their problems and shares her positive energy. Whether it’s assisting coworkers with questions or enthusiastically making sure patients are seen, Odom is friendly and willing to help. It’s clear that she truly cares about all of them. Says a colleague, "She’s one of the most kind–hearted people I’ve met."
