Children's launches new Web site
Children's Hospital Boston has launched a brand new version of its official Web site: www.childrenshospital.org. The site overhaul marks the first in-depth redesign since 2001.
The goal of the site remains the same—to be an educational resource for visitors and inform them about Children's quality of care and breadth of services, but the new design allows users to find information more readily.
Among the new features of the site are:
- A fresh new look and feel, improved navigation, an updated research site and hundreds of pages of new content.
- A new infrastructure that will enhance Children's placement in search engines such as Google.
- An improved content management system that allows staff and employees to update the site more easily.
- A homepage that will be regularly updated to showcase our patient care, research and news items.
- A searchable directory of clinical services that allows visitors to quickly access detailed information about specific departments and programs. Many of these sites have been expanded to include patient stories and staff spotlights.
- An enhanced "For Patients & Families" section that helps families preparing to visit Children's learn about everything from Child Life Services to support programs offered by the Center for Families. Hospital maps, directions, parking information, tips on preparing for surgery and comprehensive information about patient billing are also included.
- An expanded section for health professionals that includes resources for referring doctors, information on residencies and fellowships and a calendar of continuing education programs.
Visitors can also watch webcasts of the latest and most innovative medical treatments or access our multimedia library, which features visual and audio information on health conditions and procedures.
Stay tuned for future enhancements, including a virtual tour of Children's, a kid-friendly guide to the hospital by Arthur the Aardvark and "Request an Appointment" functionality.
