Children's Hospital Boston's Bloodmobile rolled up to Boston's City Hall Plaza on August 15 for a blood drive. More than 50 units of blood were collected during the seven-hour drive, which benefitted many of Children's patients. The Bloodmobile, made possible by a gift from Kohl's Department Stores, was unveiled in November 2005. Since then, it's traveled to more than 50 universities, businesses and other organizations. In the past five years, Kohl's has contributed more than $1 million to Children's through its Kohl's Cares for Kids program, including funding the Kohl's Center for Families at Children's. To schedule a blood drive in your community, call (617) 355-6677 or visit: www.childrenshospital.org/donateblood.

Hotdogs, hamburgers and ice cream were just a few of the tasty treats offered at this year's Employee Summer Picnic. The event, held on a sunny Friday last month at Emmanuel Field, featured a performance by a steel drum band and free giveaways, like the stress balls seen here.

On Thursday, Aug. 10, Martha Eliot Health Center held its Summer Safety Fair, which attracted hundreds of children and families from Jamaica Plain. In addition to giveaways and fun activities, the day was educational, as families received information about sun exposure, child passenger safety, fire and home safety. Here, Laura Sprauer, a registered dietitian in the Nutrition Department, gives Paola Ureña some tips on healthful eating.
