From clinical assistants to garage attendants, as many as 300 Children's
Hospital Boston employees work the third shift from 11 p.m. to 7
a.m. each night. It's a peaceful time for the hospital’Äîgone are
the hustle and bustle of the day-time hours. Security officers roam
the grounds, ensuring that there is no suspicious activity afoot.
Inpatient nurses travel from room to room, gently waking patients
to deliver their medications or take their blood pressure, as needed.
And the last few bleary-eyed parents make their way home, leaving
their children in the capable hands of the CHB nightshift staff.
On Wednesday, July 21, the Children's News team "pulled a
nighter" to provide our readers with a real-life picture of
CHB at night.
