Congratulations to Arelis Munoz, administrative associate in Children’s Hospital Boston’s Pulmonary Division, who’s been selected as August’s Employee of the Month.
Physicians, nurses and administrators alike rely on Munoz to manage the department’s resident rotation, schedule admissions and surgeries and support the office in countless ways. A phenomenal teammate, she’s esteemed by her colleagues, who cite her dedication, poise and willingness to make a difference. "Her work ethic, support and smile keep our division going—I don’t know where we’d be without her!" says one of them.
Physicians often comment on Munoz’s "Midas touch," as though everything she comes into contact with turns to gold. "I’ve never worked with someone who is as reliable and efficient," says a colleague. Whether Munoz is covering the madly ringing phones during lunch or quickly trying to figure out how to squeeze an appointment into a provider’s schedule, she’s calm and friendly, setting the tone for the entire department. She’s the first to volunteer to cover for a colleague who’s out and jumps at the chance to attend to patients who are lost in the Hunnewell maze.
Her teammates credit her warm demeanor with boosting the satisfaction rate of many of the patients. In fact, they joke that they’ve received so many compliments from patients who’ve written to thank her for her assistance, support and humor, that they need a separate file for them. If the accolades keep pouring in at this speed, it seems they’ll soon need to dedicate a whole cabinet in her honor.
