Nursing Spectrum honors Children's Deborah Krepcio

Children's Hospital Boston's Deb Krepcio, APRN, BC, MSN, CPNP, found out she won the Nursing Spectrum 2006 Excellence Award for Teaching on May 16 at a ceremony she described as being "somewhat like the Academy Awards." Krepcio was one of five finalists for New England, having made it through a rigorous blinded judging process. She's since gotten back to work as the Education Clinical Nurse Specialist in Surgical Programs, constantly making rounds and touching base with nurses in the program. "Coaching and mentoring is the biggest part of my role," says Krepcio, though she does scheduled programming and formal education, as well. Krepcio will take on the Teaching Award winners from the 11 other regions this October, giving her the chance to bring home the national award.
