Autumn Hodrick and
W. Hardy Hendren, MD.

utumn Hodrick was born in 2001 with a host of birth defects that presented extraordinary challenges to doctors in St. Petersburg, Fla. Her parents brought her to Boston, where W. Hardy Hendren, MD, chief emeritus of Surgery, and Michael Scott, MD, director of Neurosurgery, corrected Autumn’s many problems in five surgeries spanning three months and over 40 hours in the operating room.

At right, Hendren bids farewell to a recovering Autumn before the family’s return to Florida.
