Educating legislators
Children's Hospital Boston welcomed a crowd of 90 legislators and staff—including Representatives Bob Coughlin (far left), Jennifer Callahan (center) and Brian Wallace (far right), who presented President and CEO James Mandell, MD, with a check in support of the hospital's Cystic Fibrosis Center—at the third bi-annual legislative breakfast at the Massachusetts State House on March 28. Speakers included Pedro del Nido, MD, chief of Cardiac Surgery, and Eileen Sporing, RN, senior vice president of Patient Care Operations, who discussed innovations in pediatric care and the unique challenges pediatric hospitals face. Coughlin and Katherine Craven also shared their personal stories as parents of Children's patients. The event featured interactive displays to give legislators a glimpse into hospital programs and services available to patients, their families and our neighboring communities.
