Take to the Cape
Enjoy a summer run on the Cape while raising money for Children's Hospital Boston by signing up for the Falmouth Road Race, which takes place August 12. The seven-mile scenic course starts along the shore in Woods Hole and ends by the beach in Falmouth Heights. Voted "Best USA Road Race" by Runner's World magazine, the course attracts world-class runners, including past and future Olympians.A personal coach, a team singlet and a pre-race dinner are some of the perks you'll receive for being part of the Children's team, along with the pride of knowing you're helping our patients. When you hit the road, you'll have the support of other runners and Children's fans cheering you on. Each runner needs to agree to raise a minimum of $750 for the hospital in order to join the team. Wal-Mart pitches in for Children's
Wal-Mart and Sam's Club associates of New England made history as the first region to raise more than $1 million for Children's Hospital Boston through the Children's Miracle Network’Äîfor three years in a row. Wal-Mart and Sam's Club associates used in-store promotions, employee contests, various grassroots efforts, customer contributions and good old "stick-to-it-tiveness" to raise the funds.Associates at the 74 stores throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island raised the most dollars per store, at $13,875. That's especially inspiring, considering that most customer contributions averaged between $1 and $5 each. Employees like Mark Pulsipher donated their own money as well as their time. Pulsipher bought $500 worth of toys and personally delivered them to our patients. Another testament to the hard work of New England's Wal-Mart and Sam's Club associates is that New England ranked third in overall dollars raised, despite having 57 fewer locations than the top fund-raising region.
Those impressive numbers garnered personal thanks from former Celtics player Robert Parish. He came to support the more than 120 associates who celebrated at the TD Banknorth Garden in March. As master of the awards ceremony, Parish greeted and congratulated the awardees.
Wal-Mart and Sam's Club employees continue to honor their commitment to helping sick kids through the Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization that raises funds for 170 children's hospitals across North America. "Wal-Mart and Sam's Club associates and their customers have become important partners in Children's mission to serve the thousands of families who turn to the hospital each year for life-saving care," says James Mandell, MD, President and CEO.

ECES kicks off at Martha Eliot
MEHC had its Exceptional Care, Exceptional Service kick-off April 5. The staff organized its own strategy team to begin implementing the ECES values, skills and improvements. At the kick-off, staff gave away t-shirts with ECES/MEHC branding at the all-staff meeting that was attended by Mark Marcantano, VP for Ambulatory and Network Services, and Inez Stewart, VP for Human Resources. They also had an ice cream and cake party attended by all MEHC staff, and two Big Apple Circus Clowns added to the festivities.The MEHC Exceptional Care, Exceptional Service Strategy Team is:
