Department of Dentistry
Dr. Howard Needleman has been a key member and guiding light to
the Department of Dentistry at Children’s since he completed his
residency in 1974. He has served continuously as a member of the
active senior staff since, and was Associate Dentist-in-Chief from
1983-2002.
Dr. Needleman is Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the
Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Needleman is also a Diplomate
of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is considered an
expert in the management of traumatic injuries to the teeth and
mouth of children, and on the oral and peri-oral manifestations
of child abuse. He has published widely in the dental literature,
and is sought after as a lecturer. Both patients and staff are the
beneficiaries of his sensitive dental care, his willingness to share
his expertise, and his out-going personality. Dentistry and Dr.
Howard Needleman at Children’s Hospital, Boston, are synonymous!
