Valerie Miller, RN Nursing and Patient Services

Prior to being employed as a Staff Nurse at Children’s, Valerie was a Northeastern nursing student who did three Co-ops here on Division 26 and in the Operating Room. She returned to the Operating Room as a new graduate and has worked in this department since then. Valerie became proficient in each surgical specialty and later became particularly interested in the Ophthalmology Service where she was a valuable preceptor. Upon the introduction of a computerized Perioperative System (ESI) in the late 1980s, Valerie was asked to begin the project of automating surgeon/ case preference lists; which she did for every surgeon and every surgical procedure. She continues to assist with the clinical aspects of computerized documentation, or case scheduling statistics and other clinical reports.
