| Pearse McIntyre, Engineering
Pearse began his career at Children’s in the Carpenter Shop, and his leadership and craft skills were quickly acknowledged. Pearse became the Shop Foreman in 1974 and Supervisor in 1996. I think the following story best describes Pearse: In 1994, a child’s finger had become stuck when she put it into a 3-inch square piece of angle iron with a small hole in the center. Pearse immediately came to the hospital to help. They brought the child to the Carpenter Shop to take advantage of the vice and other tools needed. With extreme care and patience Pearse cut a “V” grove in the metal to free the child’s finger. Over the years Pearse has also been responsible for snow removal. His superb efforts to restore our streets and sidewalks to bare surface have been the Longwood Avenue benchmark. Thank you, Pearse, for your dedication.
