Lending a hand
On Saturday, February 26, the Colonial Figure Skating Club and U.S. Figure Skating donated $15,000 to Children's Hospital Boston. Part of the proceeds from the 2005 U.S. Figure Skating Synchronized Team Skating National Championships, the donation was made thanks to the efforts of Children's Hospital Boston's Sports Medicine Division, who served as the official medical sponsor of the event, providing all medical supplies and over 300 hours of volunteer medical coverage. Lyle Micheli, MD, served as medical director for the event, with Pierre d'Hemecourt, MD, and Brian FitzGerald, BSN, ATC, acting as assistant medical directors.

Sharing knowledge
A group of physician leaders, architects, senior administrators and planners from Hôpital Necker-Enfantes Malades in Paris, France shadowed administrators and physicians at Children's Hospital Boston on Friday, February 11, to gain insight and perspective into building a new children's facility. Led by Dr. Pierre Carli, professor and chairman at SAMU de Paris, and Isabelle Lesage, the group sat down with Chief Operating Officer Sandra Fenwick, Pediatrician-in-Chief, Gary Fleisher, MD; Judy Palfrey, MD, chief of the Division of General Pediatrics; Charles Weinstein, vice president of Real Estate Planning and Facilities; and Paula Quan, executive director of Corporate Real Estate, to discuss their experiences with facility planning, technology and logistics for the hospital's clinical building expansion, including the operating room, the pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, and the multidisciplinary outpatient practice programs.
