A Cause for Wonder, indeed

The Karp Family Research Laboratories

Children's Hospital Boston recently celebrated the close of the successful five-year Cause for Wonder campaign that began in 2000. The hospital blew away its original goal of $200 million to raise an amazing $311 million. The money made a real difference in many of Children's programs.

Here's a brief recap:

• Building of the new Karp Family Research Laboratories, which doubled the hospital's lab space
• Expansion of clinical space to 820,000 square feet
• Construction of the world's most advanced pediatric Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit
• Launch of Kidvestment, which helps bring top-quality care to inner-city children
• Creation of 32 new endowed professorships/chairs
• Infusion of $119 million to our research enterprise
• Funding the first-of-its-kind mobile intraoperative MRI unit and operating room
• Creation of a new state-of-the-art surgical center
