About 200 people attended Martha Eliot Health Center's (MEHC) Annual Black History Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Roxbury Community College Media Arts Center. The event paid tribute to the health center's founders, many of whom are still active in the health center 40 years later, and the residents of Bromley Heath. The event featured guest speaker David Holder, MD, MPH, MEHC medical director, an awards presentation to the founders for making their vision of improved access to care for the community a lasting reality, and several performances, including a classical music selection by the Project Step youth musicians, a liturgical dance selection by the Bridgewater State Steppers/Dancers and a gospel performance by Freda Battle and The Temple Worshippers.

Children's Injury Prevention Program marked Child Passenger Safety Week last month with a special event in the Patient Entertainment Center. The event featured child passenger safety videos, a booster seat raffle and other fun giveaways. The Office of Child Advocacy also provided information and gathered support for the Booster Seat Bill and the Primary Seatbelt Bill under consideration in the State Legislature.
