Employee of the month

Congratulations to Randall Jenkins, endoscopy technician in the Gastroenterology Procedure Unit (GPU), who's been chosen as Children's Hospital Boston's employee of the month for March. Jenkins started his career at Children's in the Food Services Department, where his willingness to improve his skills and take every opportunity to learn got him transferred to Gastroenterology. But he didn't stop there. Last year, Jenkins completed the GI associates program offered by the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, and he attended their annual course in Baltimore as the first endoscopy technician from Children's to attend. At the conference, Jenkins gathered information for his coworkers and returned with new ideas to share with the entire staff. Always eager to learn, Jenkins also works with the nurse manager of the GPU to choose courses to help him advance his knowledge.

Described as the "most professional person I've ever worked with" by a coworker, Jenkins is courteous and kind to all. Even when he's busy with his job duties of cleaning and stocking and setting up equipment for endoscopic procedures, Jenkins makes spreading good will a priority, always making coworkers smile before going on his way and lightening the mood for everyone in the GPU.
