Magnet success
Jan. 14 was a day that will go down in history at Children's Hospital Boston. That was the day that Eileen Sporing, MSN, CNAA, BC, senior vice president, Patient Care Operations, chief nursing officer, and the nursing staff got a phone call from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a unit of the American Nurses Association, awarding Children's Magnet status for nursing excellence. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. observance
Evelynn Hammonds, PhD Senior Vice Provost and Barbara Gutmann Rosenkrantz Professor of Science and of African American Studies at Harvard University was the keynote speaker at the annual Children's Hospital Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Observance. Her address focused on Dr. King and his legacy of leadership. The program also included Boston Arts Academy students enacting The Meeting—a fictionalized meeting between Dr. King and Malcom X.

High school musical
Drew Seeley of Disney's High School Musical II stage production stopped in to visit Children's patients before performing in Boston's First Night Celebration. WBZ4 partners with Children's
WBZ4 recently dedicated an entire day to Children's during the WBZ4 Day of Giving, during which donors gave more than $32,000. Lisa Hughes and other WBZ-TV news anchors encouraged viewers to support the hospital during newscasts that featured interviews with patients and their families. WBZ4 and Children's have been working together to raise funds for the hospital for 23 years.
