Gratitudes

To Children's Food Service champions:

It is said in sports that when the game is on the line, true champions "want the ball."

For Food Service, the annual Holiday Party is that "big game" that many look forward to playing in. It's a day where more than 7,000 people are served in seven hours of intense effort.

I'd like to congratulate the Food Service management team, who carried their new director from concept, to planning, to execution without so much as a hiccup in the day-to-day operation of the cafe. I applaud the hot and cold production teams that turned out pan after pan of food, the last of which tasted as great as the first; the cafe employees who served the holiday meal; the utility workers that fed our endless need for clean pans and utensils, and removed the mountain of trash created in the process; our Food Service patient team, who remained focused on the hospital's patients despite it all; and finally, the dozens of volunteers who gave their time and spirit to the event. I hope that the entire Children's Hospital Boston family enjoyed this year's event and will join me in recognizing those who made it happen.

I wish you all a happy holiday season,

Anthony Scarpino, Food Service director
