Optimal Me gets under way

A reminder that Optimal Me—the program developed by Children's Hospital Boston and Tufts Health Plan to improve the health of Children's employees and their families—is officially kicking off this month with the mailing of Personal Health Assessments (PHA) to the homes of all staff and employees. Those who complete the PHA will receive a $25 American Express gift certificate.

The PHA focuses on personal and family health history, lifestyle, stress factors, nutrition, exercise and physical issues, and gives Children's employees and their families an opportunity to document their current health and identify areas where they might like to improve. Children's will receive no individual PHA results, and Tufts Health Plan will treat them like any other personal health information, which is covered under HIPAA guidelines. Also kicking off this month—on January 9—is the Optimal Me Health Line, a phone line dedicated to Children's staff and their families and answered by a Tufts Health Plan registered nurse case manager. Known as the Health Advocate, this nurse will have access to each employee's PHA results and can help them meet their personal health goals. In addition, the Health Advocate can provide health education, assistance understanding benefits and navigating the health care system, and help in accessing Tufts Health Plan's Total Health Care programs. The Optimal Me Health Line is not intended to replace direction on a current health issue, such as how to treat medical illness or symptoms you or your family are experiencing, which should still be handled by your primary care physician.

The toll free Optimal Me Health Line number is: (888) 766 9826.
