1030AM's Jordan Rich (pictured, right) hosted the annual WBZ Children's Hospital Boston Radiothon on a wintry Friday, Dec. 9, in the Patient Entertainment Center. Nearly 100 volunteers braved the snow to take listeners' calls at the event, which raised $205,000 in conjunction with a 12-day online auction with more than 70 items up for grabs. The Boston Pops performed a rousing set of holiday tunes in Children's Patient Entertainment Center on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Led by conductor Keith Lockhart (pictured above, left), 15 musicians played holiday favorites, such as "Jingle Bells" and "White Christmas," for a jubilant crowd of patients, families and employees.
Children's inpatients had the chance to see and speak with jolly old St. Nick through the "Cisco Santa Claus Connection" on Thursday, Dec. 15. Children made live gift requests to the Man in Red through a special video telephone call that allowed them to connect to the North Pole by pressing a single button. Video phones, provided by Cisco Systems, Inc., were set up in the Patient Entertainment Center and also transported from room to room on the inpatient floors.
Six New England Patriots players visited Children's on Tuesday, Dec. 6, popping into patient rooms to wish a very sporty holiday to children and their families. The Pats, including wide receiver David Givens (pictured below, left) and linebacker Larry Izzo (pictured below, right), gave high fives, signed autographs and mugged for the media, including CBS4, 7News and WB56.
