At the Season of Hope event December 7, patients, staff and volunteers enjoyed eggnog and holiday cookies along with great performances by Youth Pro Musica choral singers and the Josiah Quincy Elementary School third grade dancers (right). Angel Morales who, a year and a half ago, became the smallest baby in the world to receive a pacemaker here at Children's, lit the hospital's 30-foot tree.
On November 30, hundreds of staff and visitors took advantage of some very convenient holiday shopping at the annual craft fair and holiday raffle in the main lobby and Patient Entertainment Center. Many of the shoppers also bought raffle tickets benefiting the Extraordinary Needs Fund, which provides housing, transportation and medical equipment to families of Children's patients.
On December 8, the Martha Eliot Health Center (MECH) had its holiday kick-off. The event started with a welcome speech by David Holder, MD, medical director of the MEHC. After the introduction, Mark Marcantano, vice president for Ambulatory and Network Services, introduced 4-year old Kaliah Johnson, who got to light the holiday tree. After, employees enjoyed live music by guitarist Gian Carlo Buscaglia.
The six winners of the recent recipe challenge got to see their dishes made and sold at the Café. A special honor will be granted to the dish that sold the best: the most-ordered entrˆ©e has been added to the Cafˆ©'s permanent menu. And the winner is: Lily Maltz's chicken rollitini, with 232 servings sold.
Boston Bruins players Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes and Jeff Hoggan visited Children's in mid-December and dropped off more than 300 holidays gifts for patients and families and visited patients on the 10th floor.
