Academic research has become an important source of innovation for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, increasing the level of interest in partnerships between academic, research-based centers and application-driven, for-profit organizations. Through partnerships with commercial companies, medical advances that originate at Children's Hospital Boston (CHB) can be fully developed and accessible to the greatest number of patients. For this reason, the IPO assists employees, who are interested in collaborating with companies, to assure that these relationships are both mutually beneficial and aligned with the mission and policies of CHB.
