Dr. Dammann works to identify risk factors for brain damage in newborns. He is particularly interested in the role of a fetal inflammatory response in the setting of an undiagnosed infection of the mother during pregnancy.
His research focuses on making a contribution towards prevention of disability, the improvement of clinical care in obstetrics and neonatology, and the development of policies that reduce the incidence of prematurity and associated risks among mothers and babies.
