"Phase I Evaluation of Urinary Isoprostane Levels in Pediatric Patients with Inflammatory and Non-Inflammatory Gastrointestinal Disease"
Isoprostanes are chemicals that are produced in the body when there is active inflammation, including the inflammation observed in the intestines of patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Isoprostanes can be measured in the blood and urine. The purpose of this study is to test whether measuring the isoprostane level in a patient's urine can help physicians determine the presence and severity of intestinal inflammation and determine whether a patient is responding to medical therapy.
