The Engle Laboratory was established in 1997. It is located in the Division of Genetics at Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Engle begun studying the genetic basis of classic CFEOM in 1992 when she completed her clinical neurology training and became a research fellow in the Division of Genetics. Over the years, the work has expanded to include studies of other forms of congenital eye movement disorders, including Duane syndrome, congenital ptosis, Horizontal Gaze Palsy with Progressive Scoliosis and Marcus Gunn syndrome.
