Welcome to the Engle Laboratory, a molecular genetics and neuroscience research lab within the Program in Genomics at the Children's Hospital, Boston and affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The lab's goal is to study the genetic causes of the Congenital Cranial Dysinnervation Disorders (CCDDs): CFEOM, congenital ptosis, Marcus Gunn Jaw Winking phenomenon, Duane Syndrome, Horizontal gaze palsy, Moebius and common forms of strabismus: esotropia, exotropia, hypertropia, anisometropic amblyopia, dissociated vertical deviation, microstrabismus & monofixation syndrome.

By navigating through this website using the buttons to the left and/or clicking on the underlined live links within the text, you will be introduced to the clinical features of the specific disorders we study, those disease genes we have identified and the diagnostic testing now available for these gene defects. You will also find explanations of how we conduct genetic studies and a review of brainstem and extraocular muscle anatomy. In addition, information regarding participation in our research is available, and the appropriate forms for participation can be downloaded from this site.

The links across the top of the page take you out of our web site to other research labs and clinical departments at Children's Hospital.

The Discussion Forum provides a live site for you to post public messages if you are interested in talking with us or others about these disorders. If you wish to contact the Lab directly with comments or questions that will not be posted on the website, please click on Contact us and send us a message.

Thank you for visiting.
