Maureen Jonas' research focuses on liver disease in children, with emphasis on viral hepatitis. She was the principal investigator in the multicenter International Pediatric Lamivudine Trial, and is currently studying the safety and efficacy of other drugs, adefovir dipivoxil and entecavir, in children with chronic hepatitis B. She is the principle site investigator for PEDS-C, an NIH sponsored study of the treatment of chronic hepatitis C in children. She also participates in the national Pediatric Acute Liver Failure study, and Studies of Pediatric Liver Transplantation (SPLIT.)

Maureen Jonas received her MD degree from University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed internship and residency in General Pediatrics, and fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, at Children's Hospital Boston.
Dr. Jonas has served on the Executive Council of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) and numerous committees of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. She is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the New England Chapter of the American Liver Foundation.
