Frequently Asked Questions

For our current project: THE MEMORY STUDY

  • How long will the study take?
    - We have several studies about infant behavior and development and how babies interact with their mothers. Depending on which study you participate in, studies may take place at your home or in our lab. Studies in our lab require 1 to 2 visits and range from 1 to 2 1/2 hours per visit.
  • Will I receive feedback about my infant's development?
    - The results for this study are analyzed on a group level by age. We do not provide feedback about an individual infant's development.
  • Will I be able to be with my child the whole time?
    - Yes. Our research allows for the mother to be with their child during the entire study, though for portions the child will be seated in an infant high chair.
  • Are there any invasive procedures?
    - No. Our studies collect only what you and your baby's bodies produce naturally, such as heart rate and saliva.
  • How will I get to the Child Development Unit?
    - Provided on our website are directions to the Unit, conveniently located next to Fenway Park. We offer free parking in our building's lot if you are driving in. We are also a 5 minute walk from the Kenmore T station.
  • I have other children, can they come to the study as well? Can they participate?
    - You are more than welcome to bring your other children to the study. We have a separate play room with children's toys and can provide child care at our lab during the study.
