Dr. Saxe's primary research and clinical interests are the psychological consequences of traumatic events in children. He is currently Principal Investigator (PI) on a five-year, NIMH-funded, longitudinal study of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in injured children and has completed another five year NIMH-funded study of risk factors for PTSD in burned children. Dr. Saxe and his team have developed Trauma Systems Therapy, an intervention for children with traumatic stress who live in environments with ongoing stressors. The manual of Trauma Systems Therapy was published in book form by Guilford Press in 2006.

Glenn Saxe is the Associate Chief of Psychiatry for Research and Development at Children's Hospital Boston where he is also the Director of the Center for Behavioral Science. He studied medicine at McMaster University Medical School in Hamilton, Ontario. He completed a residency in adult psychiatry at Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts Mental Health Center and two post-residency fellowships; a PTSD Fellowship at Harvard Medical School/ Massachusetts General Hospital and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Harvard Medical School/The Cambridge Hospital. He had been a Research Psychiatrist at the National Center for PTSD from 1995 until he accepted his current position at Boston Medical Center/ Boston University in June 1998.
