Harvard Neuromuscular Disease Project
Core A
Administrative Core
The overall objective of the Administrative Core is to provide the essential support needed to make the entire program function as a unified whole.
Core activities will include the maintenance of financial and personnel records, daily secretarial and administrative support, assurance of compliance with all NIH guidelines, the organization and scheduling of meetings of the Executive Committee, the organization of reviews by the Internal and External Advisory Committees, and the preparation of progress reports for the NIH. In addition the Core will host the Muscular Dystrophy Research Portal (MDRP) that will connect the Program as a whole through a web-based link. This portal will serve as the central focus of several activities that pertain to the various Cores and Projects, and their relationship with the Microarray Core (Core C). The MDRP will be designed to have both internal and external links. The Internal component will be used to manage the raw data, shared documents and publications of the Projects and Cores of this Program. The external component of the MDRP will be used to share publications and benchmark data with the wider scientific community. The Executive Committee will meet on a bimonthly basis to discuss not only the progress of the individual projects, but also to decide what scientific information and publications can be shared with the other scientists through the external component of the MDRP. By serving these functions, the Administrative Core will implement a highly efficient pipeline for the maximal utilization of the data obtained from the Program as a whole. It will also serve as an important information conduit to ensure the close coupling of the activities of the Program and the rapid publication of both the data sets and analytic tools to the wider scientific community at large.
