Research Interests

The research program involves three main areas of interest. First is the Neuroendocrine control of body composition in states of under and overnutrition. This includes studies in adolescents and young women with anorexia nervosa. The effects of novel gastrointestinal and adipocyte derived hormones on body composition and bone metabolism is under investigation. Second, the role of growth hormone (GH) in the pathophysiology of obesity and effects of GH deprivation and excess on bone metabolism. Third, novel pituitary derived genes with a growth suppressive effect are under investigation.
