Research Interests

My research program is focused on translational activities involving novel biomarkers for liver fibrosis and liver cancer. These are NIH funded translational studies looking at proteomics and novel markers for HCC. In addition, we have developed a core fibrosis laboratory that is working on translational studies of novel biomarkers for NASH and HCV induced liver fibrosis. These assays will be utilized in NIH clinical trials such a sthse for silymarin, SYNCH-C and also in industry sponsored studies. In addition, we have a basic science laboratory that is studying the physical chemical properties of gastric mucin and mucin peptides.
