Research Interests

Dr. Gillman is an internist, pediatrician and epidemiologist with an interest in the childhood prevention of adult disease and in childhood screening and nutritional epidemiology. The laboratory has addressed cardiovascular risk prevention in children; the relationship of dietary patterns and nutrients to cardiovascular morbidity; and measurement of diet, activity and anthropometry in children. Current projects focus on the effects of prenatal diet and other factors on outcomes of pregnancy, childhood, and adulthood. Dr. Gillman is Principal Investigator of the NIH-funded Project Viva, a cohort study of pregnant women and their children, and recently was appointed director of a new pregnancy/birth cohort study.
