- A short paragraph describing your interest in Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Hepatology and identifying your educational goals for this elective

Description:
Residents outside of the Boston Combined Residency Program in Pediatrics (BCPR) can complete elective rotations on our Inpatient, Consult, and Ambulatory Programs as Rotators or Observers.
Rotating Residents:
Rotators are residents or fellows from training programs based outside of Children's Hospital Boston. They participate in clinical care (e.g. seeing patients and presenting the cases to a preceptor) as affiliating house staff.
Resident/Fellow applicants from Massachusetts-based training programs must contact Cacilda Teixeira at (617) 919-2552 or Cacilda.Teixeira@childrens.harvard.edu, at least three months ahead of the date they would like to begin the rotation to obtain necessary Affiliating House Staff application packet. The application consists of the following:

- Copy of Massachusetts Limited License OR copy of full license and license application
- Proof of malpractice insurance
- Curriculum Vitae or Resume
- Board Certificate (if applicable)
- ECFMG certificate (if applicable)
- Attestation Form (will be sent to you as part of the application packet)

In addition to completing the Affiliating House Staff application packet, rotating residents from training programs located outside of Massachusetts must obtain a Massachusetts Limited License and therefore should contact Cacilda Teixeira. Limited License applications must be turned in to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine AT LEAST 8 WEEKS IN ADVANCE of start date. i.e. If you plan on starting on September 1st, your application MUST REACH the Board on July 1st. An affiliation and training program agreement must be in place for both in and out-of-state rotators. Applicants should contact Cacilda Teixeira early in the application process to either verify that the appropriate agreements are in place, or to start the process to put them in place prior to beginning the clinical rotation. Completion of agreements can take up to 2 months, therefore please plan accordingly.
Observing Residents:
Observers are residents and fellows with an interest in primarily observing clinical care, as well as participating in didactic teaching with respect to the diagnosis and management of pediatric gastrointestinal disease. Observers may also be interested in participating in clinical research projects during the course of their rotation. Observing residents and fellows cannot in any way be involved in the provision of patient care (including obtaining medical history, measure vital signs, perform or participate in any type of medical exam or participate in any procedures or surgeries).
Residents and Fellows interested in completing an Observership in our Division are required to complete the following:

- Health Screening Form

Residents from outside of the United States:
Residents and fellows from outside the US have the option of being an observer or a rotator. To participate as an observer you need only provide the materials listed above. Physicians interested in acting as Rotating Residents must also provide the following materials:

- J-1 Clinical Visa
- Social Security Number
- Malpractice Insurance (Children's Hospital Boston cannot provide this)
- Affiliation Agreement
