Dr. Ellis Neufeld
Harvard Medical School (HMS) and its affiliated healthcare institutions have formed the Harvard Catalyst: the Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center, to assist students, fellows, and faculty in their research career development. The website provides links to finding research study groups, colloquia and conferences, as well as to the HMS educational and grant programs. A major focus of this initiative will be on mentoring. Investigators can build a unique research identity by posting their profile through online tools, and, simultaneously, reach out to the HMS community.

Dr. Ellis Neufeld is CHB's Implementation Director and Institutional Representative. Check the link below for a conversation with Dr. Neufeld published in the Fall 2008 issue of Perspectives:

New resource available to junior faculty interested in Clinical and Translational Research:
Consultation on career development for junior faculty will be offered by the Children's Harvard Catalyst faculty, in collaboration with the CHB Office of Faculty Development's Faculty Director and Catalyst Co-Director of Junior Faculty Mentoring, Jean Emans, MD. The goal is to reach faculty planning to apply for a K award or other career development funding, as well as faculty seeking advice on course work or mentors for Clinical and Translational Research. If interested in this consultation service, please fill out the consultation form on the CHB Clinical Research Program (CRP) website (link below), and check the mentoring materials posted on the OFD website.

The Clinical Research Program (CRP) at Children's Hospital Boston
CHB Clinical Research Program
The Clinical Research Program provides technical and methodological support, education, and collaborative assistance to CHB investigators for the design, conduct, and analysis of clinical research. This includes: consultative services, educational seminars and assistance throughout the grant proposal development, from implementation to data analysis and manuscript preparation.
The Translational Research Program (TRP) at Children's Hospital Boston
CHB Translational Research Program
The Translational Research Program facilitates the development of preclinical and human translational trials focused on improving the care of children with serious diseases. The TRP provides resources for faculty-initiated pre-clinical and clinical translational research projects, as well as ensuring an infrastructure that expedites the completion of these trials. The TRP support includes: grant programs, improvement in institutional cores needed to support disease-specific non-clinical and early phase human studies, multidisciplinary retreats to foster interactions across the spectrum of research and clinical activities, and funding for faculty and staff development.
